I needed somewhere to share favorite pictures and videos, musings of my mind, etc without feeling like I was over posting on Facebook or Instagram. I like blogging because I can get my thoughts down and nobody is obligated to read them, but those who are actually interested, have easy access! Based on my blogging track record, it may not last long. But based on the amount of blog-worthy content I have and anticipate having for the rest of my life, it will last forever! Here's to the latter becoming a reality.

To kickoff my comeback to the blogging world, here are 5 adorable videos (isn't 5 things Friday a thing??) taken of Clara in the last couple of weeks.
But I caught a few cute things this past week.

Sometimes I put her binkie on this clip, and she is figuring out that her binkie is at the end of the string. She doesn't quite have the coordination to get it into her mouth yet though. :)

This is a really short one, but I caught her playing with her toes and I thought it was so cute. I think she found them on accident, because she hasn't really done it since then.
And this video isn't really about anything... But it's cute.
Oh, and we bought a new car! New to us anyway. It is a Mitsubishi Outlander. It's not really our dream car, but it worked with our budget, is in great shape, will keep us safe in the snow, and gets us from point A to point B perfectly. We are now a two car family!
She does better with things that are easier to hold on to than a mini basketball, but it sure was fun watching her try anyway! Mostly she was just interested in putting it in her mouth, which is not surprising. Most of her toys are covered in Clara slobber by now, but they don't seem to mind!

Another new skill she has mastered within the last few days is the push-up. She's getting stronger and stronger every day, and I have a feeling she might be an early crawler. Yikes! Better baby-proof our house.

Also, I think she started to miss our midnight parties, because she has started to wake up again in the night. She's been so hungry lately, I feel like she is constantly eating. She must be going through a growth spurt. Speaking of eating, we started to feed her rice cereal at dinner time. She hasn't quite mastered that skill yet, but we're working on it. I think she would like it if she could figure out how to swallow.

Anyway, she's still cuter than ever and keeps me busy and tired and blessed beyond measure. See my last post for a few more cute videos. :-)
Back in 2010, before Sam and I even knew we would be friends let alone eternal companions, we found ourselves watching a BYU football game together with the same group of friends. I noticed that Sam had his laptop out and figured he was doing homework or something. Upon further <strike>inspection</strike> snooping however, I saw that he was actually watching the US Open tennis tournament that was going on at the time. This is when I fell in love. Actually it was NOT that easy, but it did catch my attention! Ever since then we have talked about how cool it would be to go to a Grand Slam, and since getting married, we have made it a financial goal to be able to do so.

There were a lot of reasons for us to decide this WASN'T the year to do it. For example, having a two month old baby, spending most of our savings, and being in the midst moving to a different state. Not to mention, Wimbledon was a disaster and half of the top players either injured themselves or lost in the first few rounds!

There were also a lot reasons for us to decide this WAS the year to do it. For example, Tom and Sarita (Sam's brother and his wife) live in Boston, Sam's job didn't actually begin until September 11th and when would we ever be able to make this trip without taking time off from work? (answer: NEVER), and finally traveling with a two month old is probably easier than traveling with two kids under two (not an announcement) or three kids or four kids (or arranging to get a babysitter for an extended period of time).

Well folks, we did it! And that's what this post is really about- our awesome vacation to Boston and New York! (Told mostly through pictures because this prelude is longer than it was supposed to be but I keep reading it trying to cut it down and it all seems important plus I'm kinda proud of it).

Here are a list of our vacation shenanigans, in sequential order for the most part.

1. We flew on an airplane to Boston, and were picked up by Tom and Sarita. Special shout-out to them for picking us up, giving us a place to stay, driving us around everywhere, being tour guides, and being overall great hosts. Oh and by the way, Clara was an angel on the airplane both there and back. Thank goodness!

2. We went to a Boston Red Sox game, and they won!

3. Tom and Sarita babysat for us so we could go to the Boston temple. That was very nice. Thanks so much! We tried multiple times to do a timer picture with us and the temple in it... this is the best we could get.
5. 6. After seeing all the sites, we wandered around the North End (Little Italy) and found a nice Italian restaurant to eat at. It was fancy and delicious! Then we got gelato.
8. We had a BBQ, ate delicious shishkabobs, and dipped our feet in the pool at Tom and Sarita's apartment complex.

9. We drove to New York with Tom and Sarita! That first night we rode the train around and stopped at Grand Central Station, wandered around town for a bit, then went to the US Open! That first night we saw Rafael Nadal (so cool!) vs. Philipp Kohlschreiber and the Bryan brothers play doubles.

10. Tom and Sarita drove home that night. The next we spent all day at the US Open, just soaking it all in! We watched five or so different matches. People we saw that day include Djokovic, Azarenka, Ivanovic, Leyton Hewitt, Berdych, and Wawrinka. We also saw some mens and womens doubles matches on the outer courts up pretty close! Being at the US Open was probably the highlight of our entire trip. The atmosphere was so much fun and the tennis was just amazing! Those of you who don't care for tennis might not realize how cool this was for us. Seriously, it is like paradise for tennis lovers!
12. We wandered around downtown Brooklyn (at night) (both scary and fun) in search of Grimaldi's pizza. I must say it was sooo worth it. That was the best pizza I've ever had. I don't know if it was because I was starving, but it was very satisfying.
But I'm not going to write about them all right now, so to tide you all over, here is a little video displaying Clara's new trick. :-)

She has rolled from her stomach to her back before, but she rarely does that as she really prefers to be on her belly. She's been pretty close to rolling over from her back to her front without any help for the past few weeks, but she's finally got it down. Her favorite time to do it is when she is getting a diaper change.
This means he has been studying a LOT! There are four parts to the exam and he has taken three of them. He already knows that he passed the first two parts that he has taken, and is waiting to hear about the third. He takes the fourth and final part on Aug. 15th.

Even though he is studying a lot of the time, he still loves to hold Clara while he is working. Sometimes I find her in some pretty funny positions. :) She is going to be one smart baby by the end of this summer!
Last week Sam and I went to Grand Junction to play in the Taco Bell Western Slope Open Tennis Tournament. It's a very family friendly, fun tennis tournament that I played in pretty much every summer once I learned how to play tennis, so it was fun to take Sam back with me to play in it! Sam and I played mixed doubles, singles, and Sam and Brigham played doubles together as well. I also had a brother, sister, cousin, uncle, and many family friends playing in different events. Needless to say, Clara watched a LOT of tennis matches! Well, she actually mostly slept through them, but was definitely exposed to the magnificent sport.

I think she likes tennis.

At least she is pretending to like it to humor her mother and father.
But clearly she loves it too.

Can't wait to take her to the US Open in a month!

Oh ps: Sam and I won mixed doubles, and both of our singles divisions, Sam and Brig won the consolation bracket of their dubs division, AND the Daily Sentinel wrote an awesome (albeit very cheesy) article about yours truly that was featured on the front page of the sports section.

Our sweet baby girl decided to join our family 16 days early. We couldn't be more thrilled to have her with us! She really is the sweetest, tiniest, most perfect baby I have ever seen. even when she is crying, she looks like an angel! I just know that she will be such a blessing to Sam and I for the rest of our lives!

June 11- 6:15 pm- My water broke

Sam and I have had the fun privilege of coaching a girls 3rd and 4th grade softball team. We had a double header, and in between games, I squatted down to catch for one of the girls who would be pitching in the next game. I felt a gush of fluid and in disbelief I thought, "Did my water just break!?" I stood up and felt some more fluid come out. I told Sam that I thought my water had just broken to which he replied something like, "Really? Are you sure?" To which I replied, "I am like 90% sure." I went to the bathroom to make sure that I hadn't just accidentally wet my pants. Well I was soaked, and after walking back to the dugout with more fluid still trickling out (luckily I was wearing black shorts!), I was 95% sure my water had broken. By this time, our second game had begun. I told one of the moms what was going on and she took over for Sam and I so we could head to the hospital. All the moms were so nice, and we were extremely grateful that so many of them were willing to step in and help. The season had about two more weeks left, and I brought Clara to their last game. Our softball girls were so excited to see her, and the parents put together a little gift for us and for Clara. We had such a fun season with those girls! I hope we'll be able to do it again someday, maybe with Clara on the team next time!

June 11- 6:30ish

After leaving the ball field, we stopped at home to grab our bags (we had already packed them because of our false alarm that you can read about here). We packed some last minute things before heading to the hospital. At this point, I had started to have very mild contractions pretty far apart.

June 11- 6:50 pm- Left for the hospital!

We were on our way to the hospital finally! I called my mom to tell her that baby Clara was on the way! The drive to the hospital was surprisingly not bad at all. It probably helped that I wasn't having killer contractions yet.

June 11- 7:05 pm- Arrived at the hospital

By this point, contractions had begun, and were getting more intense. Right when we got out of the car at the hospital, I had one that I actually had to stop walking for, so I could get through it.

June 11- 7:10 pm- Checked in to the hospital

We checked in and were sent to an examination room. When we walked up to the front desk, the secretary was talking on the phone with somebody and we heard her say that there was only one room left, so they couldn't schedule her induction for the next morning just in case a laboring woman came in during the night. I was like, "Hey, that's me! Don't give away that room!" So I guess I got the last room that night. :-)

After what seemed like forever waiting in the examination room, a nurse finally came in to assess the situation. She confirmed that my water had broken, and a LOT more fluid came out as she checked my cervix. When that happened, the nurse said "Well, nobody will ever accuse you of not having enough fluid!" I guess there was a lot. I was 4 cm dilated and fully effaced at this point. She said that my room was being cleaned, so I would have to hang out in the exam room for a little while.

While waiting for a room, contractions picked up A LOT! I used my breathing techniques and got through contractions one at a time, with great help and support from Sam. I definitely would have been miserable without his help!

A nurse came in to give me an IV. She brought a nursing student with her and asked if it would be okay for the nursing student to give me the IV. I said that would be fine. After she put it in, they told me it was her first IV ever! I'm glad they didn't tell me that before she did it.

While in the exam room, I decided that I wanted some pain relief with an epidural, but knew it would be an hour before I could get one since the anesthesiologist wasn't there and had to be paged. I told the nurses to go ahead and page the anesthesiologist. Finally my room was ready for me.

June 11- 8:30ish pm- Switched to my new room

Once in my new room, contractions were coming on fast and strong. I didn't have much time in between each one to catch my breath and relax. I was standing up leaning over onto the bed through most of them. Sam massaged my lower back and encouraged my breathing as I went through each contraction. Finally the anesthesiologist, Dan, got there to give me an epidural. I was so happy to see him! He was a really nice, funny guy. My nurse at the time, Ana, was also wonderful.

June 11- 9:30ish pm- Anesthesiologist arrived

After Dan got there, I had to sign a paper then sit up super still so he could give the epidural. That was really hard, because I was having some very intense contractions, which were very difficult to hold still through. Sam and the nurse helped me through those though. The epidural took about 30 minutes to place and kick in.

June 11- 10:00 pm- Epidural was placed

After I got comfortable with the epidural (and man was I comfortable!) Ana checked my cervix again, and I was dilated to a 9! I couldn't believe it. So I went from a 4 to a 9 in less than three hours! Ana said she would come back in an hour to see how everything was going. I was so relaxed, and actually enjoyed the next hour. The epidural was 100% the best choice (for me). Over the next hour, Sam and I were able to just enjoy each other, just the two of us, with no pain!

June 11- 11:00 pm- Fully dilated, started pushing

At 11:00, I started pushing through my contractions. Ana thought I just might have a June 11th baby. Pushing was slow going though. After almost 3 1/2 hours of pushing, we realized why it was taking so long. She was facing up instead of down! Silly girl. Often times when baby's are facing up, forceps or vacuum assistance are needed to help, because baby gets distressed. Clara was a champ though, and wasn't even in distress after so much pushing.

June 12- 2:20 am- Last pushes

Finally I could see a fair amount of her head (in the mirror) and the doctor was ready to deliver her. On my next contraction I pushed and pushed and pushed some more. the doctor just kept saying "one more," "push hard!" I was used to only doing three pushes per contraction, so when he had me do about seven pushes in a row, I was exhausted! It was worth it of course, because finally I could see my daughter's body! Sam cut the cord, and they gave Clara to me before the respiration guy took her away. It was amazing to hold her for the first time! I loved hearing her cry and then scream for the next few minutes. Once she was cleaned up a bit, weighted, and measured, I got to hold her longer and admire her. She as so perfect! She only gets more and more perfect every day! We love our little Clara girl so much!

The following days were such a blur. The nurses took great care of me and Clara. One of the greatest challenges (for Clara and me) has been learning to breastfeed, but clara and I are both learning so fast and have improved lots. We've got it down pretty good now. She eats a lot, and is already starting to fatten up! She has her two week check up tomorrow, so we'll see if she's back up to her birth weight. I wouldn't be surprised if she weighs more than her birth weight by now. Another challenge was that Clara's biliruben levels were high, so she had to spend six hours under lights. We were also sent home with a bilibed and biliblanket to use for 48 hours. She hates it, or maybe Sam and I just hate it. We'd so much rather be holding her wrapped up tight in a blanket than watch her flail around on her mini tanning bed! The bilibed and biliblanket are long gone, and her biliruben levels have since gone way down. She is perfectly healthy!

June 14- 4:00ish pm- Left the hospital!

We finally got to come home with our sweet daughter! Our first night was pretty long. I blame it on the bilibed though. Only one more day of that, then we can make her more comfortable at night time. She does sleep much better without the bilibed. She still wakes up a few times every night, but when she is sleeping, it is a much deeper sleep than when she had the bilibed. My mom came to help, and she has been amazing! Clara love her grandma! She's been such a great help with making meals and watching Clara so we can sleep more. I don't know how I'd survive these first few days without her help! She was able to stay for a week, which went by way too fast.

Clara makes the cutest faces when she is waking up/falling asleep. She eats well, fills her diapers well, and is just adorable all the time. :-) She hates her baths, loves being swaddled in a warm blanket, and gets the hiccups about three times a day. I can't believe she is already two weeks old- she's already growing up so fast! We love you, Clara girl!

That means, Clara could come any day! It also means that if she doesn't come until her due date (or later... yikes!), it is going to be a very LONG three weeks!

We feel generally ready for her to get here. She has a cute car seat ready for her, a stroller, a bed to sleep in, far too many adorable clothes to wear, blankets, bibs, burp cloths, and just about anything you can think of that a baby needs.

False Alarm

At my last doctor's appointment on Tuesday, the doctor said not to get antsy, because 3 out of 4 girls go past their due date with their first baby. (Probably not what any new mom wants to hear, but probably good to hear anyway). Anyway, so I was fine "not getting antsy" until later that evening I started having contractions, three minutes apart, for about three hours! My doctor had told me that it is time to go to the hospital if contractions are five minutes apart and I can't really talk through them. Well, I could talk through them (they hurt enough that I couldn't sleep through them, but were definitely bearable), but they were three minutes apart. We didn't really know what to do. Finally, after doing everything we could to try to get them to stop we decided to go to the hospital just to make sure I wasn't in real labor. We knew there was a pretty good chance we'd get sent home, but we also thought "what if it IS real?" and "maybe I just have a really high pain tolerance" or "maybe I'm like grandma Davis, and all I'll have is a little backache and then I'll be dilated to a ten!" and "why are these contractions so consistent?" etc.

So we packed our bags and headed to the hospital at about 2 AM. When we got there the nurse put some bands on my belly to measure the heartbeat and contractions and did a little check-up. She said I was dilated to a 2 1/2 and 90% effaced which is apparently "really good for a first timer." She said we could stay for an hour and then she'd check me again and if anything had changed, we could stay and have a baby. If not, we were free to go! Basically as soon as I got situated in the hospital bed, the contractions started slowing down and not hurting as bad, so I was pretty sure we'd be going home. Sure enough, she came back and nothing had changed. She seemed pretty hopeful that we'd be back sooner rather than later, and that I wouldn't make it to my due date, but who knows! She also said that once things get going, I should have a fast and easy labor. Don't know how true that will be, but it's good news to hear anyway! We finally got home and were able to fall asleep at about 4 AM. I wasn't even really that disappointed, because it was a fun little adventure, and good practice for when the real thing is actually happening!

Fun Facts

I can't wear my wedding ring anymore. :-( I thought I might make it to the end, but my fingers have started to swell a little bit in the past week or so.

I wake up at least every two hours in the night to use the bathroom. I guess this is good practice for when baby comes.

I have Braxton Hicks (painless) all the time. Occasionally I'll have the ones that feel like really annoying menstrual cramps.

Sam and I officially "graduated" from our Lamaze/Childbirth class. It was pretty fun, and we feel really informed and ready after having taken the class.

I've had a baby shower to go to for 6 weeks in a row (only one of them was for me), so apparently having a baby is the thing to do right now! I'm excited for all of my friends that are on the same road as me!

My hospital bag is packed!

Clara weighs at least 6 1/2 pounds by now

Next Doctor's appointment: Monday

Days I think would be fun for her to come on: June 10 (my Dad's birthday), June 16 (Father's Day), June 21 (longest day of the year), or I guess any day that she comes will become the best day in June!

The highlight of April was Sam and me graduating from BYU. We feel happy, excited, and slightly confused to be done with school after all these years. We have been blessed beyond expression in our years at BYU; afterall, if it hadn't been for each of our decisions to attend BYU, we would not have met, fallen madly in love, gotten married, and I certainly wouldn't be giving you all pregnancy updates! But I guess I can save my list of BYU blessings for another blog post. :) Here are some pictures we took after graduation:
Even though we are done with school, we have still been busy studying. I have two independent study classes that I am finishing up and Sam has started to study for the CPA exam. Regardless of the many hours a day we spend studying, we have enjoyed the flexibility that comes with not having to go to class. We are loving the nicer weather and have done some fun activities to celebrate. Here are some pictures of our recent activities!
The Powell's were in town for Sam's final orchestra concert and after giving them way too many clues, they guessed it right, so we figured we might as well share it with everybody now. Her name will be...

The middle name is technically still subject to change, but we are sure about the first name, and pretty sure about the middle name. We really liked the name from the beginning, but since we have used that name to refer to her for the past two months, we've come to love it even more! Somehow it already fits her personality so perfectly. We can't wait to meet our little Clara girl! :-) Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16705856210148712213noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3353785589967435183.post-13414078992310171612013-03-24T16:35:00.000-07:002013-03-24T16:35:02.166-07:00Just Chuggin' AlongThe usual questions plus a few bonus ones at the end!

How Far Along: 26 weeks, 2 days

Size of Baby: 1 2/3 lbs, approx. 14 inches long (about the length of an English Hothouse Cucumber).

Total Weight Gain: 15 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: I bought my first pair of maternity pants, and wondered why I had waited so long! They are soooo comfy.

Movement: Everyday! Even though it's kept me up a couple of times in the night, I still love it. She's had the hiccups a couple of times which is funny. I love when we talk to her and she kicks back. :-)

Sleep: I have weird dreams all the time and I've started to sleep a lot less deeply, but for the most part I think I've been blessed in this area.

What I Miss: My non-compressed, regular sized bladder!

Cravings: Still don't really have those. I think cravings must be a pregnancy myth.

Symptoms: same stuff as before, tiredness, occasional abdominal and back pain, hunger!

Exercise: I've been blessed to be able to continue exercising everyday just as I did before being pregnant. I go to Zumba twice a week, do Pilates twice a week, and either bike, do yoga, or swim on the other days. I have needed to make many modifications in my Pilates class, but other than that, I feel like I can do most anything that I could do before!

Best Moment: Staring at my belly and watching it move all over the place!

I feel like not much has really changed in the last month (except for getting a lot bigger and unmistakably looking like a pregnant lady!), so here are some bonus questions. Don't feel obligated to read on- if you just want pictures scroll to the bottom!

Who did you tell first, and how? Sam of course, and he actually knew before I could even tell him! I picked him up from school (I had found out a few hours earlier) and I was just in the best mood ever and could not stop smiling. I had put the at home pregnancy tests that I had taken in a plastic bag, and then put the bag on a fridge with a magnet. I wanted him to just see them and be surprised, but before he saw those, he was already investigating in the bathroom because somehow he knew I was hiding something from him! After looking around in the bathroom he found the empty box and said from the bathroom, "Elise???" He came out and asked me if I was pregnant and then the rest of the details are a bit fuzzy. I just know there was a lot of hugging and crying and laughing and just overall joy in the kitchen that night. :-)

Who was more excited about having a baby (you are your hubby)? I think it's safe to say that we were both pretty elated. I've been dreaming about starting my own family and being a mommy for years, and I notice babies wherever I go! Ever since we got married (and probably even since we were seriously dating, to be honest), having a baby and starting a family with Sam was on my mind a LOT. Sam says, "probably Elise, but I was obviously very excited."

What will you name her? This is by far the number one question I get asked (especially if the Jr. High girls that I teach are included). We are 98% sure what her name will be, and we call her by that name all the time. We want to keep it our little secret for a little while longer though before we tell everybody, because it's kind of fun to have it be our secret and we want to be 100% sure before we tell everyone else. Stay tuned and you might find out in the next couple of posts! For now, you can refer to her as baby girl. :-)

Okay, I think that's all for now! If you have any questions you want to see answered on my next blog post, post a comment and let me know!
How Far Along: 22 weeks, 2 days

Size of Baby: At our last appointment (3 weeks ago) the baby weighed 10 oz. Right now, she probably weighs about 1 whole pound! How exciting!

Baby girl is about the length of a spaghetti squash (11 inches)

Total Weight Gain: 10 pounds. Keep em' coming!

Maternity Clothes: I still just wear a t-shirt and sweats for teaching PE everyday at Timpview High School, so those are regular clothes. I can physically still button all my pants... but it's not comfortable, so I usually don't! I've worn a couple of maternity shirts, but I feel like they don't quite fit yet, so I still wear normal shirts for the most part.

Gender: Girl girl girl! We found out about three weeks ago and couldn't be more happy! When we were told it was a girl, we just felt happy and really good like we knew all along that she was a girl (even though we really had no idea before we found out).

Movement: All the stinkin' time! I love it. It's incredible how much more real it feels now that I can feel (and see!) that tiny little human moving around inside of me. I already love her so much, and I tell myself that her frequent punches and kicks are her way of telling me she loves me too. :)

Sleep: I still wake up to use the bathroom once or twice. I'm getting used to sleeping on my side instead of my back which is good. For the most part, I don't have any sleeping issues yet!

What I Miss: Nothing!
I still eat goldfish a lot and oranges and apples are delicious, but I don't know if they are really "cravings."

Aversions: onions still (but mostly just the smell of them- I can eat them just fine!)

Symptoms: stuffy nose at night time, not being able to bend over very well, slight "pregnancy brain" every now and then (forgetfulness)

Best Moment: When Sam felt the baby REALLY kick for the first time. He feels her kick all the time now, but the first time was a little bit magical. :)

Overall, I'm doing well! Our baby girl is happy and healthy and we can't wait to meet her!
Ready for another update? My friend Sarah who is also pregnant does this really cute update every couple of weeks and I'm totally stealing her ideas. (Thanks Sarah!)

How Far Along: 19 weeks, 1 day (I CANNOT believe that I've almost reached the halfway point. Seriously, it blows my mind!)

Size of Baby: weighs 8.5 oz and measures about 6 inches from head to bottom (babycenter.com).

About the size of a large heirloom tomato!

Total Weight Gain: 5 pounds. I lost quite a bit during my first trimester, so I've had some ground to make up.

Maternity Clothes: I made my first maternity purchase a week ago. Well actually Sam bought it for me as a "present." It's one of these nifty things. This makes it so I can still wear all my pants, but just unbutton them when they are feeling a little too tight. I also was getting excited to wear real maternity clothes, so I ordered some cute shirts and dresses (like this, this, and this) from Old Navy's maternity clearance section online. Can't wait to try them out! With my student teaching, I just wear a T-shirt and workout pants everyday, so generally speaking, I usually don't have much of a reason to wear maternity clothes yet.

Gender: We find out in 2 days! I still have no idea- I want it to be a girl, but the last couple of days I've been thinking boy. Sam said something real sweet the other night when we were talking about it. He said, "I think a boy would just be so fun, but I think if we had a girl she would just melt my heart."

Movement: Definitely yes! I've felt some little kicks or punches, usually when I'm lying down right before bed or right when I wake up. It's the coolest feeling ever! I still don't feel or see much on the outside, so Sam has yet to feel baby move, but I don't think it will be too long before that happens.

Sleep: In general I sleep pretty good at night. I still wake up once or twice to use the bathroom. At first that really annoyed me, but I'm pretty used to it by now. Recently I have been trying to consciously sleep on my side because I've read all these articles about how when you lie on your back, the increased weight of your uterus presses on the major vein that returns blood from your legs to your heart and so on. Anyway, so I wake up several times a night to find myself on my back and then I re position to my side. I'm also a big fan of naps, though they don't always happen.

What I Miss: Related to the above post, the only thing I REALLY miss, is not sleeping all the way through the night.

Cravings: J-dawgs, Panda Express, and goldfish are a few of the most recent cravings.

Aversions: onions- big time.

Symptoms: stuffy nose at night time, achy back, and occasional heart burn (specifically when I eat meat).

Best Moment: I don't know if this really counts as a pregnancy moment, but Sam and I played in an intramural mixed doubles tennis tournament this past week. We won the first two matches (we played awful, but barely won) and then we played this really good team in the final and won again! (We played a million times better than we had in the first two). Anyway, the way that we were able to stay pumped up and positive during the final was to say "this one's for the baby" between pretty much every point. :) We decided we are going to design our own onesie with this year's intramural champion design on it since we couldn't have done it without the help of our little one keeping us pumped up. :-)

That's right people, I finally am starting to look pregnant. By request from my sister Cammie, here is a picture of what I look like. Granted, I took this picture after eating dinner and was maybe puffing out my tummy a tiny bit, but still... there is no denying that there is a tiny avocado-sized human being growing inside of me.

16 weeks 3 days

Three weeks from today, we will find out if it is a girl baby or a boy baby. Lots of people ask me what I am hoping for. I think secretly I am hoping for a girl, but deep down it just doesn't matter! I'll be oh so happy no matter what. I haven't had any "premonitions" like some people do, of what it will be, so I'll be surprised and overjoyed either way!

Common questions people have asked me:
1.) Will you find out the gender? -yes, read above paragraph!

2.) Do you have names picked out? -kind of, but not really. Once we know the gender, it will be easier to pick out names. It is yet to be determined when we will share our choice with the rest of the world.

3.) Have you felt the baby move yet? -ish. I'm like 97% sure I felt him/her move a few nights ago when I was lying in bed, but it might just be in my head. Still don't feel it consistently, that's for sure.

4.) How do you feel? -good most of the time. The first three months were pretty yucky, but I'm over it and starting to feel much much better! I'm occasionally plagued with random bouts of headaches, tiredness, heartburn, abdominal pains, etc. but for the most part I am healthy and happy!

5.) Do you have any weird cravings? -no not really. I kind of wish I did, because there is no better excuse for eating absurd/unhealthy/expensive food right? But it just hasn't happened yet. Mostly I just have aversions to food that I normally would like. For example, pb&j is no longer a lunch staple, because it makes me nauseous. Maybe the fun cravings will come later?

6.) When are you due? -June 28th

Anyway, I think those are all the most commonly asked questions. I can't believe I am already so close to the half way mark! With student teaching this semester, I have a feeling these next four months are going to fly by so fast and then it'll be no time before this sweet little baby is in my arms! I can't wait to be a mommy!

We went to the Red Rocks amphitheater, a huge outside theater right smack dab in the middle of the giant red rocks. The drive was so beautiful with the green mountains looming nearer, then all of a sudden the mountains were red! It reminded me of Grand Junction and was such a pretty little drive!

A lot of events are held here during the summer, including Film on the Rocks. Every other Monday they play a movie on the giant screen and tons of people come to watch! The movie that played last night was "ET." A movie that I hadn't seen for years! What a classic! I had vague memories of watching it when I was young at my grandma and grandpa Davis' house and feeling cool that I got to watch a big kid movie, so apart from being a great movie, it brought back some good memories. It rained for a while before the movie actually started, but it was still really fun. I was pretty impressed that the amphitheater stayed completely full even though rain is generally a setback for these kind of events. I guess in Colorado the weather is just part of the experience.

I saw a lot of people whip out their cameras to take a picture of the screen during the classic "Elliot and ET riding his bike through the sky in front of the giant moon" part. I wish I would have thought of that, but alas, we just got pictures before the movie started. Anyway, it was a really fun date night and is definitely a place that I would bring my family back to someday in the future.
